Beach Blanket and Towels
WHY THIS PRODUCT?
Being the curios soul I am I reached out to Greg from Bok Beachlife when I saw the campaign on my social cat feed to find out more about the product and how it was made. I was lucky enough to get to try out three of these amazing sustainably made products. The Wild Escape Beach towel, the Fields of Sun Beach Blanket and the Eucalyptus Springs Hand Towel
I chose the super cute Leopard Print design and the Sunflower design because they are my favourite patterns and things in the whole world other than photography....sunflowers are magical and remind me of my daughter-in-law Brodie and leopard print is life!.
Each item comes with their own compact drawstring bag so the can be packed away quickly simply and easily and can be worn like a backpack or slung over the shoulder.
Check the video's below to see me using them at my favourite local spots for a landscape photo session on the banks of the Parramatta River at Meadowbank in Sydney, Australia about 3kms from my place. I had planned to shoot content for this campaign at Bronte Beach, unfortunately the weather has been atrocious but I will definitely use these products in upcoming shoots with models just because they are so handy and look good..
THE FEELS!
The microfiber feels soft yet firm on the skin and makes the towels absorbent as well as quick drying, the waffle weave helps makes the sand come off and the sand was pretty wet Sunday after the rain but it shook off easily and didn't stick to the towel or beach blanket in a mucky muddy goop, it shook off and they were so easy to pack up and put in the drawstring bag afterwards and dried quickly at home hung up in the bathroom afterwards.
I wish these had been available when my children were small when we lived on the Redcliffe Peninsula in QLD and spent a lot of time on Bribie Island, but I will be recommending these to everyone and buying some for my 18 and 20 year olds who still live at home for when they travel with their dad to Victoria's Gippsland Region to visit family by the sea.

SUSTAINABILITY
The following sustainability information is quoted from Bok Beachlifes Website
MILLION BOTTLES
Over one million plastic bottles are used every minute worldwide. Far too much of this plastic ends up in landfill and our precious environment. Our towels have been made from RPET which stands for polyethylene terephthalate. RPET is made using plastic bottles that have been diverted from landfill making a path toward a greener, safer and cleaner future.
THE PROCESS
Bottles are selected and sorted onto bales at recycling centres and then sent to PET recycling facilities.
The bottles are cleaned and the labels and caps are removed. The bottles are then shredded into flakes using mechanical bale breaker. The flakes are then cleaned again and throughly checked so they have no impurities
They then go through a de-polymerisation and re-polymerisation process to be turned into PET pellets.
SPINNERET, MELTED & COOLED
The pellets are then passed through a spinneret, then melted and cooled into fibres, which are then smoothed, stretched. The produced yarn is then placed onto reels ready to be woven into towels.
So now when you are laying on your towel you can now think back to its humble beginnings and the journey that it has had to get to you today. You can also reflect on the extended life that you have given those bottles that would that may have otherwise ended up as landfill or rubbish in our beautiful environment.

THE VERDICT!
I have to say, when i first heard about the products from BOK Beachlife and then saw the towel and beach blanket I was slightly skeptical...we all know sand just gets into everything and you always take some with you on your clothes shoes and towels. NOT SO......These are just amazing! Simply shake and the sand comes off easily, so much so , that I will never buy any other type of beach towel and this will be a staple in my kit when i'm shooting on location at one of our beautiful Sydney beaches, or just spending time with the family.
I'll be buying some for my young people. Greg also included a cute string bag with the items in it in the parcel and it was just a beautiful touch. (See images below for the string)
